On February 2, 2020, the Santa Fe Cheer Program made history! The Intermediate Open Competition Team took 1st place at NCA Nationals in Dallas and were named NCA Champions. This is the first time in the history of the program! They also received Specialty Awards for Best Use of Stunts and Best Use of Tumbling.
The Game Day Cheer Competitive Team entered a division that was the first for the program and many of these members. Although they did not end up where they wanted to be, they still remained positive, strong and competitive. We cannot be more proud of their strength and endurance taking on a new challenge and meeting it head on. That, too, is the definition of a champion!
All these student athletes have prepared for this day since August! Their hard work, dedication and commitment to their school and community is amazing. The endless practices, the pushing for one more “full out,” the energy to still keep going and the fight to “never give up” is a consistent work ethic for these teams. As former cheerleaders in this program and current cheer coaches, nothing makes Mrs. Plite and I more proud than the feeling we get when we take that journey on the mat with our students. Words cannot describe the joy in watching these student athletes reach their dreams! These are memories we will all cherish forever!
Congratulations to these students, this school district and community! They definitely proved that we are “Stronger Together!”
