Santa Fe ISD encompasses 72 square miles of the western portion of Galveston County approximately 30 miles south of Houston on State Highway 6. The transportation department transports approximately 2000 students to and from school on a daily basis utilizing 24 regular routes running two tiers and 6 special need routes. Besides our day-to-day operations of transporting students to school, the district provides transportation for numerous extra-curricular activities, athletic events and after-school programs. This past year, the department accumulated approximately 495,000 miles on our school buses transporting students. The department is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of 51 school buses and 31 auxiliary vehicles.
