    Santa Fe High School Band

     

     

    The Santa Fe High School Band participated at Region 17 UIL Marching Contest on Saturday, October 20th. They earned a Division II. We are very proud of these hard working band students and their Directors, Matthew Seifert, Director of Bands and John Anderson, Assistant Director.

     Officer Camp

    On June 4-7, 2018, the military officers attended the Crowd Pleasers Officer Camp in Galveston, Texas.  The girls attended dance classes and leadership workshops with other dance officers from high schools across Texas and Louisiana.  The dance officers were also evaluated on several dances including the camp dance and a chosen routine.  The military officers earned a Silver Elite for earning 90+ on all of their evaluations, the Most Admired Award, and the Be Fearless Award.

     

    Additionally, each officer received an “All-Star Officer Award” and each has been invited to perform in the All American Halftime Show at the Citrus Bowl and to perform in the 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City!

    The Tribal Belles Dance Team attended dance camp at TBarM in New Braunfels and at Kubacak Elementary School, where they began working on their field dances for the upcoming school year.  Jenna Arthur, Shelby Haaga, Ashton Shutt, and Cadence Steeves-Gill earned an “Elite Performer” award.  Rebeca Carmichael, Isabella Dise, and Mercadise Wheeler each earned an “All-Star” award.   Earning an Elite or All-Star award also earned these girls an invitation to participate in the 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

     

    The Tribal Belles would like to thank Kubacak Elementary School for allowing them to have their summer practices in the gym at the elementary school.

    Santa Fe Junior High Theatre

    This year the Junior High competed in OAP with “The Marvelous Playbill.” At Bi-District students placed top 3 and moved on to the next round of competition. Many students won individual awards. Although, they did not place top 3 at District, the judge had wonderful things to say about their skills and awarded individuals for their outstanding performances. Haley Pyle, a senior at Santa Fe HS, was the Assistant Director for this show and did a wonderful job mentoring the JH kids. They all worked very hard and we are so proud of them.

    Santa Fe High School Choir

    SFHS Choir Advances to State

    Congratulations to the Santa Fe High School Choir!  They competed in the UIL Region Choir Contest in Angleton on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Thirty-nine of forty four students received a superior or excellent rating! Twenty-four of forty-four students received a superior rating earning a medal. And, seventeen soloists and two ensembles will be advancing to the state level in May. Their Director is Gunnar Tietge.

    The Santa Fe High School Tribal Belles Dance Team attended the Crowd Pleasers Senior High Showcase Dance Competition at Clear Lake High School in Houston, TX on Saturday, February 17, 2018. The Belles performed 3 military officer dances, 3 team dances, and we had 8 girls enter and perform solos.

     

    The Tribal Belle Military Officers earned the following awards for their performances:

    · Super Sweepstakes Award for scoring above 90 in all three officer routines

    · Best in Class Officer Contemporary – 1st place champions

    Santa Fe High School Band

    UIL Band Solo & Ensemble

     

    Santa Fe Band recently participated in UIL Solo & Ensemble. At the end of the day, 21 of 28 performing groups walked away with a Division I or II. Specifically 39 of 48 students earned a Division I or II. Nine have the option to advance to UIL State Solo & Ensemble in May. Congratulations!

    The Belles have been preparing for competition season since early October, and on Saturday, February 3, 2018, the Santa Fe High School Tribal Belles Dance Team attended the Champion’s Gulf Coast Classic Dance Competition at Turner High School in Pearland, TX.  The Belles performed 3 military officer dances, 3 team dances, and we had 12 girls enter and perform solos.

    The Tribal Belle Military Officers earned the following awards for their performances:

    ·        Best in Class Officer Jazz – 3rd place

    Tribal Belles soloists were Jenna Arthur, Faith Blundell, Bree Butler, Abby Davis, Cadence Gill, Kaylee Haaga, Skyler Janik, Bailey Johnson, Kirby McCaskill, Haylee Melancon, Chelsea Pourchot, and Cheyenne Williams.  Senior Bree Butler placed 3rd Runner-up out of all of the senior soloists entered in the competition. 

    The Tribal Belles will continue to prepare for upcoming competitions and their annual Spring Show.  Way to go, Belles!

    The Santa Fe Junior High Band recently took 10 students to compete against many schools in Region band tryouts. We are excited to announce that 3 of our students made the top band at Region and 1 of those students made Region Orchestra. This is a remarkable accomplishment because these students competed against hundreds of other students from our surrounding region. Samantha Browning earned 2nd place on tenor saxophone, Mya Perez earned 4th place on Alto Saxophone and Myranda Perez earned 2nd place on Trumpet for Region band and Region Orchestra. These students, along with the others who competed, spent many hours preparing for this contest. We are extremely proud of their efforts and how they represented the Santa Fe Junior High. Congratulations to these 3 for their incredible accomplishments.

    The Santa Fe High School Band participated at Region 17 UIL Marching Contest on Tuesday, October 24th. They earned a Division I and will now advance to Area Contest on Saturday, October 28th at Galena Park.

    On Saturday, September 23, 2017, 24 of the high school choir students competed in the All-District auditions at Clear Springs High School and out of the 24 students who competed from Santa Fe, 5 of them will be advancing to the next round at All-Region which will be hosted at Clear Creek High School in October. The students advancing are Leila Butler, Ash Kidd, Verity Latham, Haley Pyle, and Skyler Skillman. We wish them the best of luck at their next round of auditions!!!

The girls also earned the Vibrance Award for their energy and enthusiasm! Additionally, each officer received an “All-Star Officer Award” and each has been invited to perform in the All American Halftime Show at the Citrus Bowl and to perform in the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City!

    On Friday, April 21, 2017, the Santa Fe Junior High Band traveled to McAdams Junior High in Dickinson to compete in the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest. The Varsity Symphonic Band received straight Division I's on stage and a Division II in sight reading. Congratulations to the Santa Fe Junior High Band!

    SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE

     

    On Thursday, March 23, 2017, Theatre Santa Fe advanced their One Act Play to District Competition at Texas City High School and brought home several awards. District Honorable Mention All Star cast members are Angel Martinez and Toby Odom. District All Star Cast members are Gabby Paddie, Azia Miranda, and District Honorable Mention All Star Crew is Jase O'Brien. The play, THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE tied for 3rd place, and was designated as an Alternate for Bi-District. Mr. Kinser and Mrs. Daugherty couldn't be more proud of the work presented by the cast and crew.

    On Monday March 20, 2017, Theatre Santa Fe took their One Act Play to Zone competition at Texas City High School and brought home several awards:  Honorable Mention All Star cast members are Angel Martinez and Toby Odom.  All Star Cast members are Gabby Paddie, Azia Martinez and Noah Jones, and All Star Crew is Angelina Robinson.  Our Play, THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE advanced and will compete at the District level on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

    SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL TRIBAL BELLES

     

    The Tribal Belles competed in the Showmakers of America State Competition on March 3rd and 4th, 2017, at Texas State University in San Marcos. They received the following awards:

     

    *Officers Sweepstakes and Judge's Award 

    Showmanship Award for officer jazz 

    Choreography Award for officer jazz contemporary 

    Officer lyrical received second place overall

    THE "PRIDE OF THE TRIBE" INDIAN BAND

     

    On February 4, 2017, Forty two students participated in Regional Solo & Ensemble Competition at Clear Lake High School. Nine students, Haley Brantner, Meagan Johnson, Peter Luong, Gabriel Degner, Shoei Ruckman, Maleiha Alvarado, Erica Werner, Grace Johnson and John Overbeck, will advance to State in Austin on May 28, 2017.

     

     

     

    On January 14, 2017, Gabriel Degner and Joshua Esparza performed with the Region 17 "Symphonic Winds" Region Band. They played clarinet and trumpet respectively and incredibly represented Santa Fe High School on stage at Manvel High School.

     

     

    SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS

     

    SFHS Cheerleaders competed February 17th and 18th in the Cheer America National Competition at NRG. They received Cheer America 2017 National Champion, Cheer America high point (which designates the highest scoring team of the competition) and received a full paid bid to the Cheer America World Championship. Congratulations to the team!

     

     

     

    SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL ART

     

    On February 11, 2017, students competed in the Visual Arts and Scholastic Event (VASE).  A total of sixteen students competed this year, and eight students received 4's- the highest rating they could score! The remaining eight students all received a score of 3!

     

     

    SANTA FE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL THEATER

     

    The Junior High UIL One Act Play students performed, “Playground,” at Texas City High School on Saturday, February 11, 2017. They received 4th place overall. Lamar Tucker received Best Tech Award. Honorable Mention All Star Cast went to Sarah Birkmeyer and All Star Cast went to Jayden Knopp. Congratulations to these students and their teacher, Macey Pendergast.  

     

     

    SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR

     

    For the first time since 1995, that is 22 years ago, Santa Fe High School has a student that will be a part of the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Choir. Lauren Schanfish will get to participate in the All-State Treble Choir in San Antonio on February 11th. This is a huge honor and she competed against over several hundred students within our area to be a part of this.

     

     

    Lauren Schanfish, participated in the Pre-Area portion of the TMEA All-State process. She was placed in the top 5 singers in her section and gets to audition in the final round on January 7th. Please help us congratulate her as she prepares for the final round and the opportunity to sing in the All-State Choir!!!

     

    On Saturday, September 24th, seven students from Santa Fe High school auditioned for the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Process. The first round was all-district and out of the seven students, four are advancing to the next round which is all-region. They are:

    Lauren Schanfish who received 3rd chair out of 125 students

    Victorial Cole receiving 5th chair out of 140 students

    Elizabeth Holtz received 8th chair out of 125 students and

    Laramie Thompson receiving 11th chair out of 140 students.

     

      

    SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE

     

    On Tuesday November 1st, Theatre Santa Fe students had the opportunity to compete at the Texas Renaissance Festival competing with students from all over the state of Texas. They returned with two first place awards by performing scenes from their fall production GOOD MASTERS! SWEET LADIES!   Juniors, Angellee (Angel) Martinez and Noah Jones earned 1st place with their Duet Scene and Senior Gabby Paddie, Junior Valerie Robinson and Freshman Cameron Redwine earned 1st place with their group scene.  All students who participated did a great job!

     

     

    Theatre Santa Fe Thespian Troupe #4868 celebrated their art by attending a performance of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME at the Hobby Center in downtown Houston on January 29th..  This fantastic Broadway show is traveling around the country and the Thespians had the opportunity to see it.  "it was really good, I loved it!" says Thespian freshman Marissa Worsham.  "The technical aspects of this show are breathtaking" says Thespian Troupe Commander Jonathan Stanton.  This yearly artistic field trip was generously support with money granted by High School Principal, Ms. Blundell.  "We would like to thank Ms. Blundell for making this trip possible" says Thespian Lt.
