In 2016, the Texas Legislature provided districts with flexibility in scheduling by changing the requirements for student attendance. For the school year, instead of requiring 180 student attendance days, the state now requires a minimum of 75,600 minutes of attendance. Santa Fe ISD recently experienced two bad weather days that required school closure thus reducing student minutes of attendance. Because the district includes additional minutes in the academic calendar to cover such occurrences, the two-day district closure will have minimum impact on student attendance requirements. For R.J. Wollam, Dan J. Kubacak, and Santa Fe Junior High, no schedule changes will be required. For Santa Fe High School, the morning start time will be adjusted by five minutes. The new attendance time for high school will be 7:05 a.m. – 2:35 p.m. beginning on February 5, 2018, and will continue through the remainder of the school year. This adjusted schedule will require no bus schedule changes. If you have questions, please contact your child’s campus.
