Transportation

If you did not register for transportation services during the registration process, please complete the BUS RIDER REGISTRATION FORM. 

If your child is in Pre K, Kindergarten, or 1st Grade, or receiving Special Education services, please complete the RELEASE FORM as well.

Transportation will begin 1 to 3 days once form is submitted (up to 5 days during the first 2 weeks of school).

SFISD has a ONE address policy. Students will be picked up and dropped off at the same address. 

Because areas deemed as a hazard surround each campus, all students legally registered at a campus who reside within the boundaries of Santa Fe ISD are eligible to ride a school bus to and from their legal residence. (District policy prohibits transportation to or from a business.)

No, transportation is provided as a service at no cost to the parent by the district.

Not necessarily, depending on where you reside, bus stops may be consolidated to run our routes more efficiently which allows for fewer stops and a shorter ride for your student.

Safe and Efficient Stop Parameters:

Students residing on a dead-end road living within ½ mile of the nearest through street will receive service at the nearest point on the through street. Students residing on a dead end road with registered riders more than ½ mile from the through street will receive service on their street if there is a safe public turn around, or a safe private turn around with notarized right of entry agreement. Roads not receiving city, county or state maintenance will not be traveled. Private roads will not be traveled. Students residing on private roads, roads not maintained by city, county or state, or not freely accessible will receive service from the nearest public road access.

The average bus is 8.5 feet wide from left side mirrors to right side body. Heavily traveled roads must be at least 18 feet wide to allow for a bus and another wide vehicle to pass without leaving the paved surface of the road. Moderate to lightly traveled roads with numerous adequate pullouts may be traveled if the majority of the road is at least 16 feet wide. Without adequate pullouts these roads cannot support incident-free transportation

For the safety of all Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students, an authorized adult must be present at the bus stop and come to the bus door to receive the child.

If no one is available to meet the student, the child will be returned to the Transportation Center. In such cases, a parent or guardian will be contacted and required to pick up the student in person. A valid state-issued ID must be presented at the time of pickup.

Yes. Students that do not ride for over 2 weeks will be removed. To resume transportation services, parents will need to re-submit the required forms.
