Santa Fe ISD only accepts classroom observations, not field experience.

Classroom observations will be scheduled September through March each school year for students/interns seeking observation hours to meet course/program requirements, maximum hours sixteen (16).

Step 1: On the Santa Fe ISD website, click the Community tab. Scroll down to volunteer forms and choose Cowan/ALC Volunteer Form.

Step 2: Schedule an orientation appointment with Chrissy Healy, SFISD Coordinator of State Accountability and Assessment.

Contact Delilah Owens to make an appointment. 

Step 3: During the orientation, you must present a documentation letter from the university professor or certification program explaining required observation hours.

Step 4: Once accepted, you will be placed on an approved student observation list that is shared with the campus/s. Students are responsible for contacting the campus to schedule their observation days and times.

Clinical Teaching

SFISD offers PAID clinical teaching positions to selected candidates. This program provides additional benefits to aid your clinical teaching experience and the start of your teaching career.

Private lessons or supplemental music lessons are offered as enrichment to classroom instruction.

To be considered as a recommended private lesson instructor for Santa Fe ISD students, applicants must complete a Private Lesson Instructor Application by clicking the link below. 

The SFISD Business Department will process your application.  You will also need complete a Criminal History Background/Fingerprinting Check.

The salaries listed above are based on 10-month employment for the 2025-2026 school year. Salary plans are determined on an annual basis and salary advancement is not guaranteed. Pay increases are based on the annual pay raise budget approved by the Board of Trustees. Salaries are determined individually with consideration for job-related experience and credentials.

Student Workers

Any student interested in working for the district must complete an online application. Applicants will be selected through a selection process based on their application and qualifications for the position.

To be considered as a student worker for Santa Fe ISD:

1. Students must apply online. 

2. All candidates for employment must complete a Criminal History Background Check Form. This form must be returned to the HR Office. 

All paperwork must be completed and approved by HR prior to employment. HR will contact the Program Director, Campus Principal, or District Director once an applicant has been approved for employment with the district.

To help grow, nurture and support novice teachers, all teachers new to the profession in Santa Fe ISD will participate in a 2-year induction program.

This includes:

• first year teachers transitioning from student teacher/intern programs 
• first year teachers completing an alternative certification 

These new to the profession teachers will be considered mentees and will be assigned an experienced teacher to serve as the mentor. The purpose of mentoring is to develop in all teachers new to the profession the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values that are necessary to effectively carry out their role as a classroom teacher.

All experienced teachers new to SFISD may participate in mentor program activities as needed. These teachers will be assigned an experienced teacher who will serve as a campus buddy. The mentoring program for experienced teachers new to SFISD welcomes the teacher into the SFISD culture.

Volunteers/Chaperones

Santa Fe ISD appreciates all who are willing to commit time and energy to helping students succeed and to provide an excellent place for learning for all students. It takes a combined approach to accomplish this, and we welcome volunteers to join in the goal of making our schools the best they can be.

According to Texas Education Code, Section 22.083, Santa Fe ISD may obtain criminal history record information on an individual who has indicated, by application, to serve as a volunteer.

Completion of the volunteer application qualifies as written intent to serve as a volunteer at a designated Santa Fe ISD campus and release to conduct a criminal background information check. The Criminal information obtained is confidential and used only for ensuring student safety.

Steps to Become a Santa Fe ISD Volunteer:

1. Read the Santa Fe ISD Volunteer Guidelines and Santa Fe ISD Professional Dress Standards.

2. Complete the online application indicating the position preference of volunteer and campus/campuses in which you plan to volunteer, the Criminal History Form, and the Confidentiality Statement.
