Physicals: Before participating, the SFISD Trainer in the field house must approve and file a physical. Please see the link to Free physicals above. Please only report directly to the band hall on day one if a physical has been turned in; students and parents must ensure all documentation is correct and signed before leaving when dropping off their student.
Order forms: All forms must be turned in before or on July 29. The bookkeeper at SFHS processes order forms. The front office is open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. -4 p.m. All apparel must be paid for before the order is submitted. Please call Brittany Phillips at 409-927-3122 or email her at brittany.phillips@sfisd.org. Course fees of $180 will be added in October 2024 per SFISD policy.
Band meals will be paid through boosters, and payment can be remitted in the black payment box located outside of the band office. Please bring payment in an envelope with the student's name and a memo explaining the payment so that our Booster treasurer can process it. If you have declined meals or do not pay, each parent/student will be responsible for their meals while traveling, at contests, or at home games.
Communication: We use Remind 101 as our main form of communication in the band program. All students and parents are responsible for receiving the information as it is distributed. To join Remind 101, please use the code@sfhsraines to join the SFHS Pride of the Tribe class.
Group Me is another app for student/Director communication with subgroups like Leaders or Percussion. Please make sure all students have joined these groups and continue to receive the necessary information.
Band Contract: We are working on a band contract for each student and parent to commit together this year as a part of the “Pride of the Tribe.” We are a band family, and while we aren’t perfect, we strive to be the tribe, and we can be together. It takes all of us to fundraise money and take care of the band program's needs. Without our parents and students, we would not have a band program. Please ensure we are all doing our part to support our talented students. Students need to do their part in communicating and participating in fundraisers and community service projects (gratis playing opportunities) to serve our community.
SFHS Band Handbook: The handbook has some minor changes this year. The electronic version will be available here, and an acknowledgment form must be filled out, signed, and turned in by August 2.
Apparel: Please pay close attention to what students wear when they are practicing and performing. Our directors, leaders, and parent volunteers help to fill in emergencies at the last minute. Still, please ensure your student has all the necessary uniform items and accessories to perform.
Marching Season Meals: The boosters will handle all meals this year. The amounts are described and listed in the band fee order form sent out in May and at the top of the important links section. If students opt out of meals, parents will be responsible for all meals traveling and at home.

Grades: Per the syllabus distributed at the beginning of the year, all performances are 40% of the grade, and participation, and pass-offs (including rehearsals and classes) are 60% of the student’s grade. Late arrivals, leave-earlies, and absences may result in steps being reduced up to and including 30 points.
