Welcome to SFISD

Nestled between Houston and Galveston, just a few miles east of I45, you’ll find Santa Fe ISD. The district services 72 square miles in Galveston County. This covers not only the Santa Fe city limits, but also parts of League City, Dickinson, La Marque, Hitchcock, Alta Loma, Arcadia, and Algoa. Santa Fe ISD retains a rural community feel while having big city amenities nearby. Santa Fe ISD is a 5-A district serving approximately 4,400 students in 5 schools; Santa Fe High School (9th-12th Grades), Santa Fe Junior High (6th-8th Grades), Barnett Elementary, Kubacak Elementary, and RJ Wollam Elementary (all Pre-K-5th).

Santa Fe ISD is committed to providing all students with the tools they need to succeed, starting with early childhood education. The district ensures that every student has access to one-to-one technology, which is used to enhance learning experiences in the classroom.

Our youngest students are exposed to a diverse range of learning opportunities, including science and STEM labs, robotics, historical research, and literacy libraries, all designed to build reading and vocabulary skills. Our Secondary Advanced Academic Programs, Pre-AP courses, Dual credit, and AP courses, offer rigorous challenges that support learning at high levels, preparing students for post-secondary success. Santa Fe students consistently demonstrate excellence in academic competitions at both the state and local levels, including UIL Academics, SAT, ACT, and career certifications. Honors and enrichment programs provide additional opportunities for leadership roles in courses or organizations such as campus House Leaders, Student Council, CHAMPS, Safety Patrol, and Law Enforcement Explorers, allowing students to serve and grow as citizens and develop skills that enable them to make meaningful contributions to society throughout life.

SFISD integrates art and music into the K-12 curriculum, providing opportunities for students to participate in high-quality arts instruction and activities.

Athletics is a cornerstone of promoting school pride, and our athletic programs excel beyond district-level play. We believe that a thriving athletic program cultivates a culture of success, allows students to engage at their optimal ability, and promotes self-esteem, self-discipline, self-confidence, and teamwork.

Our Career and Technical Education programs offer a wide range of courses to meet students' interests and prepare them for viable careers. Students can choose from courses such as floral design, culinary arts, architecture and construction, audio-visual technology, business, health science, agriculture, and more!

Santa Fe ISD implements Character Strong, a research-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that plays a crucial role in a comprehensive bullying prevention strategy (Smith & Low, 2013). The SEL core competencies, such as social awareness, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and self-management, along with students' perceptions of school climate and culture, are closely linked to their experiences with bullying at school (Yang, Chan, & Ma, 2020). Studies conducted in elementary and secondary schools indicate that enhancing students' SEL competencies leads to a positive school culture and climate, reducing the likelihood of peer victimization and bullying behavior among students.

Santa Fe ISD prides itself on offering a well-rounded education that not only focuses on academic excellence but also places a strong emphasis on personal development and community engagement. With a commitment to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students, the district ensures that everyone has the resources and support necessary to thrive.

From the early years of education, students are encouraged to explore a variety of subjects and activities that foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. By integrating technology into the classroom and offering advanced academic programs, Santa Fe ISD prepares students for future success in higher education and beyond.

In addition to academic pursuits, the district places a significant emphasis on extracurricular activities, such as athletics, arts, and career and technical education. These programs not only promote school spirit and teamwork but also provide students with valuable life skills and experiences that will serve them well in their future endeavors.

Santa Fe ISD is dedicated to promoting a positive and inclusive school culture through initiatives such as Character Strong, which focuses on social-emotional learning and bullying prevention. By fostering strong relationships, responsible decision-making, and self-awareness, the district aims to create a safe and supportive environment where every student feels valued and respected.

Overall, Santa Fe ISD is more than just a school district; it is a community that values diversity, excellence, and personal growth. By nurturing the whole student – academically, socially, and emotionally – the district plays a vital role in shaping the future leaders of tomorrow.
