Flipgrid is the video discussion platform teachers use to make teaching and learning more personal, fun, and engaging. Flipgrid works on almost any device with a camera! Q: WHERE CAN I ACCESS WI-FI, IF I DON'T HAVE IT AT HOME?
Comcast is offering wifi hotspots available nationwide due to the coronavirus
- Once at a hotspot, select “xfinitywifi” network name from the wifi menu, then launch the preferred browser.
- To find an Xfinity WiFi Hotspot, check the hotspot location map at xfinity.com or download the Xfinity WiFi Hotspots app from the App Store or Google Play.
External Free Wi-Fi “OPEN” is available at the front of several SFISD locations:
- Front of Santa Fe High School Field House, 16000 Hwy 6
- Front of Barnett Elementary school, 11818 FM 1764
- Alamo Building, 13306 Hwy 6
Q: IS ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING COMPATIBLE WITH APPLE PRODUCTS?
Yes, but Google Chrome should be installed on MAC and IOS devices as Safari may not be compatible.
Q: HOW DO I ACCESS SYMBALOO FOR MY ELEMENTARY STUDENT?
To get to Symbaloo on the student laptop, click on the Edge browser and the tabs for Symbaloo’s will open at the top. Please see attached document for more details.
Q: ARE PERSONAL DEVICES, INCLUDING LAPTOPS SUPPORTED?
While we are able to provide support for canvas and other district software, we are unable to remote in to personal computers for technical issues. If the issue persists, you can contact the students teacher to request a district issued laptop.
Q: WHAT IS THE LOG-IN INFORMATION FOR MY PRE-K - 2ND GRADE STUDENT?
Pre-K - 2nd grade students should log-in using the "Guest" user account. This will take you directly to the desktop. These students will not log-in to Office 365. Teachers in these grades send out a weekly Smore Newsletter.

Q: HOW DO I SET UP THE SCHOOL ISSUED LAPTOP?
SFISD issued Laptops are ready to go. Below are some steps to get started:
- Click on the Wifi symbol at the bottom right corner
- Students log-in using their SFISD user name and password OR use the Guest User
- Click on Google Chrome. Once on the sfisd.org page, click on Students and go to Office 365
Q: CAN I USE MY CELL PHONE FOR ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING?
While the platforms can be accessed on smartphones, it is not ideal for students to view and complete their work on. You will need to get a device from the school district to use during this time.
Q: CAN I USE MY KINDLE FIRE FOR ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING?
While the platforms can be accessed on a Kindle Fire, it is not ideal for students to view and complete their work on. You will need to get a device from the school district to use during this time.
Q: WILL MY STUDENT NEED ACCESS TO A PRINTER OR CAMERA?
Assignments online should not need to be printed out to complete. Students may need access to a camera to take a photo of their completed work or record a video.
