    BOARD HIGHLIGHTS

     

    RECOGNITIONS

     

    H.S. recognized their athletes who have signed with colleges.  The H.S. held a signing ceremony on November 19th.  The following students signed to play volleyball: Shelby Freudensprung; East Texas Baptist University, Rachael Douglas; Hardin-Simmons University, Kassidy Taves; UT at Tyler and Baylie Baccinelli; Texas Lutheran University.  Softball – Maddy Blake signed with the University of Incarnate Work; Maggie Childs and Juliana Garcia; San Jacinto College, Emily Hartnett; Louisiana College.  Aubrey Jones signed for acrobatics and tumbling with the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.  Rome Shubert signed to play baseball with U of H.

    H.S. recognized Senior, Erin Smith as she was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the Houston Texans and NRG. Erin was one of 6 students in the Houston area to receive this award for her leadership in the classroom and on the basketball court.

    SFHS and Jr. High recognized their cheerleaders who participated in the Cheer Power Invitational at Moody Gardens on December 7th.  The team won many awards.  They are: Aubrey Jones, Ally Childs, Ashlee Black, Brayleigh Macaluso, Brooke Castle, Hailee Luxton, Hailey Yeates, Jaycie Rabon, Kaegen King, Kaidence Cox, Kalyn Robins, Katelyn Brock, Kendal Andrus, Laney Bland, Makenna McGuire, McKinsey Criss, Nicole Hubbell, Payton Bradley, Payton Cundiff, Sam Wright, Sydney Tanner, Syvanna Kennedy, Ashlyn Mathews, Madison Wills, Rylee Slaughter, Bailey Braundsdorf, Cadin Mckinzie, Kam Brown, Lauren Radicioni, Jenna Radicioni, Sydney Bland, Breckyn Plite, Emma Wallace, Kylie Davidson and Trinity Rife.  They are coached by Jr. High Coach, Lindsey Plite and H.S. Coordinator and Coach, Tamara Henderson.

    Employees of the Month for December are: Irene Baker, RJW; Jamie Nichols, Kubacak; Sandra Matejka, Barnett; Megan Ott, JH; Araceli Luna Nolasco, H.S.; Amanda Garcia, Transportation; Julius Medina, Maintenance; Mayra Tovar, Custodial; Sheri Fisher, Child Nutrition; Julia Vasquez, Admin. and Bruce Whitten, Police Department.

    Santa Fe Athletic Department recognized the #Strongwhenweak foundation and their Board members for their donations to the boys and girls booster clubs and their donation to make two basketball games a free event for families in the SF community.  They also donated $8,000 to the SF Athletic Dept.  Present tonight are: Jason Singleton, Cory Junemann, David King, Jennifer Butler and Jerran Butler.

    Santa Fe ISD Police Department recognized Eddie Cornelius with DCP Midstream for donating $1900 to the SFISD Police Department.

    The District recognized the SFTXEF and thanked them for all the grants they awarded to our teachers and staff.  Karen Anderson updated the Board on the continued mission of the foundation and as of 2019 the foundation has raised one million dollars in 10 years.  Kay Winwood also addressed the Board naming some of the programs that the foundation has funded, Robotics, Battle of the Books and STREAM.  She stated that the foundation gave out approximately $47,000 in grants at the December 13th Grant Award Parade District wide.  Mrs. Winwood shared that Valero made a $20,000 donation toward the STREAM program.  She also invited everyone to the 10th Anniversary Gala on February 20, 2020 at the Nessler Center in Texas City.

    Mayor Jason Tabor presented a proclamation to the Board on behalf of the City of Santa Fe proclaiming the month of January as Board appreciation month.

     

     

    INFORMATION ITEMS

    Ms. Hanssard and Mrs. Davenport presented the H.R. and P.R. Goals for 2019-2020.

    Mr. Atkins updated the Board on current maintenance and building projects throughout the District.

    Approved the 2020-2021 Santa Fe ISD Academic Calendar "Option C" as recommended by the DEIC.
