BOARD HIGHLIGHTS
RECOGNITIONS
The Board recognizes students and staff each month at the regularly scheduled board meeting. The following were recognized at the May meeting.

SFJH recognized their Cheerleaders for placing 1st and High Point Champion at the Cheer Power Texas State Championship. They also placed 2nd in the Cheer Power Hit the Beach Championship: Madisen Devries, Rachael Douglas, Aubrey Jones, Hailee Luxton, Keira Rodriguez, Chloe Scheunemann, Skyler Skillman, Madison Wills, Tessa Ybarra and Coach Lindsey Plite. The Jr. High is also recognizing their 7th and 8th Grade Boys and Girls Track students. Placing 1st – 3rd at the district track meet were: 8th Grade Girls: Kassidy Head, Alexis Greenlaw, Maggie Childs, Cameron Bloomfield, Erin Werner, Avari Creekmore and Bailey Sobnosky. 7th Grade Girls: Reese Rena, Isla Caudill and Jaleigh Holloway. 8th Grade Boys: Trent Clarke, Connor Dunham and Justin Kirsch. 7th Grade Boys: Christopher Kelley, Dillon Cummings and Tyler Trexler
SFHS recognized Track, Softball and Student Council:
Track Regional Qualifiers: Clayton Horn-District Champion in boys Pole Vault; Blane Marcantel was the 2nd place finisher in the District in the 300M Hurdles; Caitlyn Garza was the 2nd place finisher in girls Pole Vault; Richard Davis is the Head Track Coach, Billy Miller is Pole Vault Coach and C.J. Cavness, Hurdles Coach.
The Softball Team is being recognized for their undefeated in District season. Haley Boecker, Morgan Boody, Megan Chance, Haley Chavez, Morgan Childs, Courtney Clark, Sierra Cothern, Victoria Davidson, Emily Evans, Michelle Owens, Stephanie Reed, Destinie Revier, Shelbi Sunseri, Summer Syers, Bailey Tisdale, Kayla Tisdale and Miranda Trigo. Coaches are Katie Roberts, Andi Causey and Amanda Wagner.
Student Council attended the Texas Association of Student Councils annual conference in April. The Association recognized Santa Fe High School’s Student Council Program as an Outstanding Council, an honor that has not been bestowed upon the campus in over 9 years. SF also took home honors in both their “Pride and Patriotism” and “Community Service” committees. Members present tonight are: Sara Packard, Madison Smith, Abby White and Emily Martinez.
Special Presentation – SFISD recognized Mr. Greg Gardner with State Farm Insurance for his continued support of Students and Staff at SFISD. Mr. Garner
assisted in managing the 3rd annual fun run and also sponsored it. He will be judging the Battle of the Books at SFJH, he also works with the local police department to organize a safe driving education event at the high school. Mr. Gardner sponsored a guest speaker at the H.S. during the week of Prom, Mr. Sean Carter, who was severely injured in a drunk driving accident. Mr. Gardner demonstrates that when businesses and schools work together, students are more likely to graduate with a wider range of academic experiences that better prepare them to succeed in the workplace environment. Mr. Gardner serves on the SFTXEF and also supports other district activities such as sports and fine arts. He also continually employ’s graduates from SFHS in his office.Santa Fe ISD has been selected as semi-finalist for the H.E.B. Excellence in Education Award, for the second year in a row. Out of 1400
applications from educators all over Texas, only 18 Districts were selected as semi-finalist and were forwarded to a regional level for judging. SFISD
received a $500 gift card from H.E.B.Nutrition Services recognized their department for receiving a $5,000.00 training assistance grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture. This grant will go toward learning new methods and strategies for preparing nutritious and appealing meals students need to succeed.

PUBLIC FORUM: STRIVE (Students in Transition Reaching Independence through Vocational Education) student Erika Vega shared a power
point presentation highlighting her time in the STRIVE Program. She shared artwork, her job with Goodwill and her experience of taking art lessons at Hobby Lobby and College of the Mainland.INFORMATION ITEMS

REGULAR AGENDA
- Approved the purchase of the high school CTE computer lab upgrade and replacement computers for the CTE classroom.
- Approved the purchase of 5 laptop carts, 2 elementary carts and 3 secondary carts.
- Approved the district's submission to the Texas Education Agency of the 2016-2017 Pre-Kindergarten Waiver of 210 minutes school day.
- Approved the purchase of the Canvas Learning Management System for implementation in the 2016-2017 school year.
- Approved a motion to adopt the proposed compensation plan for the 2016-2017 school year for all employees and job families as presented.
- Approved the revisions to EIC(LOCAL) as recommended by the SFHS Campus Improvement Committee and the Local District Policy Committee.
- Approved the district's submission to the Texas Education Agency of an Attendance Waiver for the students' instructional minutes missed on 04/18/2016 due to the district's early dismissal caused by potential flooding concerns and extreme weather conditions.
- Approved the contract with Portfolio Builders, Inc., for the remodel of the CAP restrooms.
- Approved Gordon Food Service as the grocery provider for the Santa Fe Food Purchasing Cooperative for the 2016-2017 school year.
- Approved the donation from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 50 laptops.
- Approved the purchase of Two new 77 passenger diesel powered school buses.
- Approved the participation in a new Fuel Pool Agreement with TASB Energy Cooperative from June 1, 2016-August 1, 2017.
