    BOARD HIGHLIGHTS

     

    RECOGNITIONS 

    Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Winners: RJW Gold Medal winner, Paxton Kirby; Kubacak Best of Show winner, Kaylin Ayala; Jr. High Gold Medal winner, Meaghan Pugh; H.S. students: Amber Quinn, Best of Show and Vase Finalist for state competition; Daniella Saenz, Gold Medal and Vase Medal recipient; Lindsay Kay, Gold Medal winner; Rachel Bejarano, Vase Medal winner; Emma Childress, Vase Medal winner; Judy Creel, Vase Medal winner; Ivy Hernandez, Vase Medal winner; Kameryn Townsend, Vase Medal winner; Sarah Zaro, Vase Medal winner.

     

    Kubacak Elementary recognized their tribal leaders and safety patrol. These 5th grade students develop leadership skills and reinforce safety expectations for all students. In attendance were: Sophie Beltran, David Trejo, Osiris Gutierrez, Gilbert Sanchez, Jolie Van Houton, Alexa Saldana, Evelyn Saldana, Aaron Tacquard, Deagan Lindsey, Aimee Jones, Kaylynn Miller, Brinlee Nichols, Jaidyn Culpepper and Kayla Gonzalez.

     

    Jr. High recognized their One-Act Play competition winners – Gerald Hall, Zone Honorary All-Star Cast and District All-Star Cast member; Ryleigh Shubert, Zone All-Star Cast and District Honorary All-Star Cast member.

     

    H.S. Band recognized their performances at the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest. These students have earned a spot at the State Solo and Ensemble contest in June under the direction of Matthew Seifert and John Anderson: Mya Perez, Kaitlyn Ryan, Samantha Browning, Mason Marek, Myranda Perez, Jacob Husky, Morgan Wilson, Joshua Stevens, Emma Childress, Maleiha Alvarado, Shelby Jackson.

     

    H.S. FFA recognized Naomi Boysen for her 4th place high point individual at the Livestock Judging Team competition at the Deer Park Invitation on February 6th. Recognized also was Kastin Wilde for placing 1st at the Ft. Worth Stock Show with her Heavy Weight Market Barrow. FFA also recognized their Officer Team, Kaylee Ginn, Katie Sefcik, Joanie Johnson, Colton Smith, Shelby Fruedensprung, Kara Hitchcock, Jordyn Boutwell, Kastin Wilde, Naomi Boysen and Kassidy Emerson.

    SFISD recognized the YUM Department for their recognition from the Texas Department of Agriculture for their committed sourcing and serving Texas grown products to our students in the “Best of the Bunch” challenge.

     

    SFISD recognized Bound Tree Medical and Santa Fe Fire and Rescue for their generous donation of 100 Stop The Bleed Kits to Santa Fe High School. Present were Craig Gray with Bound Tree Medical and Assistant Chief Chris Anderson, SFF&R.

    Monthly Reports - Mr. Atkins updated the Board on the progress of the new elementary school and other projects within the District.

    Chief Braun presented the annual Racial Profiling Report.

    Ms. Junco presented the Quarterly Investment Report for the 2nd Quarter.

    Cre8 Architects presented information regarding furniture selection for William F. Barnett Elementary.

    Approved the submission of a TEA Low Attendance Day waiver for January 31, 2019 due to a safety related issue.
    A motion was made to table the approval of the Academic Calendar for 2019-20 until a Special Meeting could be called.

    Approved the MOU for the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Santa Fe coordinated response.

    Approved Policy Update 112 as presented.

    Approved the resolution proclaiming March 2019 as Music In Our Schools Month in Santa Fe ISD.

    Approved the resolution proclaiming March 2019 as National Social Workers Month in Santa Fe ISD.

    Approved the resolution proclaiming March 4-8, 2019 as Texas Public Schools Week in Santa Fe ISD.

    Approved the resolution proclaiming March 4-8, 2019 as National School Breakfast Week in Santa Fe ISD.

    Approved donations.

    Approved the renewal of property insurance for policy term from March 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020.

    Approved the renewal of general liability auto insurance for the policy term from March 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020.

    Approved Option 1 of the transportation route plan for elementary schools for the 2019-2020 school year. Which states that students will be transported to/from daycare only if the student resides and attends a daycare within the designated elementary school attendance area and the student will have one designated stop within his/her attendance area.

    Approved Netsync Network Solutions to purchase the wireless equipment for William Barnett Elementary School.

    Approved the resolution of the Board regarding the Santa Fe Coordinated Response Grant from the Office of the Governor.
