***2020-2021 STAAR testing is scheduled to occur in the Spring of 2021. Please see the state assessment calendar for specific dates.

***Student Success Initiative (SSI) has been waived for the 2020-2021 school year for 5th and 8th graders. This means students in grades 5 and 8 won’t have to retest if they do not pass the first time. Students enrolled in grades 5 and 8 are still required to take the STAAR tests once. Regardless of their score, retest opportunities will not be provided. Districts have local discretion on whether these students should advance to the next grade, just like students in grades 3, 4, 6, and 7. These decisions will be based on local criteria that reflect a student’s academic achievement and mastery of subject matter, and should include STAAR assessment results, along with other relevant information. Districts are still responsible for providing accelerated instruction and supports for students that fail to perform satisfactorily on STAAR. Furthermore, although students in grades 5 and 8 will not be retained solely on the basis of STAAR results.

***2019-2020 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was waived for all students in grades 3-8 enrolled in the course during the Spring of 2020 if they received credit for the course. This includes End of Course (EOC exams.) Students will not be expected to make up these tests unless they are in high school and did not receive credit for the course.
