SFHS Teacher, Andi Causey, was recently awarded the Special Olympics Coach of the Year for Area 22 representing the following counties: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Jackson, Matagorda & Wharton. Area 22 has over 170 coaches & 2,000 athletes who compete in a variety of sports.
Congratulations to Andi!! SFISD students are very lucky to have such a dedicated and outstanding teacher and coach!

Learning Forward and Corwin announced the eighth-grade math team at Santa Fe Junior High School in Santa Fe, Texas, as the winner of the Shirley Hord Learning Team Award. This award, which honors Shirley Hord's research on learning communities, is given to a team of teachers that demonstrates Learning Forward's definition of professional learning in action. The winning team focused their collaborative work on increasing student engagement as a critical element in improving student achievement in mathematics.

Two SFJH students were recently selected as finalists in the "Do the Write Thing Texas Challenge"? (Mary Leach and Pablo Esparza) This year the Challenge received 16,994 student submissions from 144 schools. The 2013 "Do The Write Thing" Recognition Ceremony will be held at Minute Maid Park on May 11th, where the National Finalists will be announced. National Finalists will receive an all expense paid trip to Washington, DC in July.

The PTO of Santa Fe recently recognized the 3rd 9 weeks "Super Scholars" at RJW. Students were honored by selecting a book to be placed in the RJW Library with a name placard placed inside the front cover. In order to be recognized, students had to be on the Principal's Honor Roll for making all A's in every subject including electives and conduct during the previous three-9 weeks. Congratulations RJW Super Scholars.
